Pewaukee River Partnership – Draft minutes – January 28, 2016

Minutes and Correspondence - The minutes of the October 29, 2015 meeting were approved as written. Review of support letter sent to Waukesha County regarding the Western Lakes Golf Club being placed on the Park and Open Space Plan.

Treasure’s Report – Nancy reported our current balance is $8299.69. There are no outstanding bills.

Monitor Report – Ray reminded everyone of the monitor appreciation lunch at Retzer Nature Center on March 5^th.

Old Business –

A. Bridge Project – The MSOE students will be presenting their preliminary designs to the Village in February. Charlie will email date, time and location when finalized. We are continuing to investigate the structural integrity of the existing bridge abutments.

B. Review of Partnership logo – Discussion was held regarding logo and letter head. Linda will forward final designs to Charlie in February.

New Business – Discussion was held on the annual plant sale. It was agreed to hold the sale again for 2016, the date to be May 14^th. We will investigate designs for a new plant stand.

Updates from PRP President

Pewaukee River Partners, Friends and Guests: Our Plant Sale is going well at this time. If you haven’t ordered your plants yet we have sold out of two species, Turtlehead and Pale Purple Cone flower. The greenhouse has also sold out. This is why we order our plants in February. If you plan on an order I would suggest doing it soon. The deadline for orders is April 22nd. If you need an order form, let me know. We have another opportunity to spend some time in Simmons Woods Park helping our Partner Darrin on his buckthorn removal project. This Saturday from 8 till noon we will be chipping dried buckthorn and spreading it on the trails. Any amount of time you could help would be wonderful and there is no experience necessary. On the job training will be provided. Since we are dragging buckthorn, gloves will be required. I you can make any amount of time, please let me know. We will be at the north parking lot closest to the boardwalk. As always refreshments will be provided, and a good time will be had by all. Our next meeting will be at the Pewaukee Public Library on the 25th of April at 6 o’clock. We will be planning our plant sale order assembly workday. It will be Thursday May 9th at the Lake Pewaukee Sanitary District office. This project normally takes 3to 4 hours in the morning. After our meeting I will send out the final details.
